Nutrition Education
in Lincoln County
Since the end of our SNAP-Ed contract in 2026, the University of New England has worked to build a sustainable, community-focused path forward for nutrition education across Maine.
Thanks to the University’s efforts and dedication, Healthy Lincoln County (HLC) is excited to share that our next chapter is now underway with the launch of a new program: Nourish ME, funded through the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP).
This funding has made it possible to re-establish and expand nutrition education services in a way that is inclusive and aligned with community health needs through all of life’s phases. The end of SNAP-Ed created a gap in consistent, community-based nutrition education locally, and Nourish ME is designed to rebuild that capacity in a more adaptable and sustainable model.
Is Nourish ME for You?
Nourish ME supports individuals, families, schools, community organizations, healthcare partners, caregivers, and older adults by providing practical nutrition education that helps people make informed food choices, build confidence in the kitchen, and support lifelong health and wellness.
Food as Medicine Approach
HLC and Nourish ME are strengthening connections between healthcare and nutrition by partnering with local providers to incorporate nutrition education into healthcare settings. These efforts empower individuals with practical food and cooking knowledge that can support disease prevention, better health outcomes, and overall well-being.
Programming may include:
Healthy cooking demonstrations
Grocery store tours
Youth nutrition programs
Wellness workshops
Experiential education at community events
Learning how to compare products, understand nutrition labels, and shop on a budget

Here’s What Comes Next
Through partnerships across Lincoln County, we work to make healthy eating accessible, affordable, and realistic for everyone. That said, Nourish ME is still in early stages of development as we create a more expanded, and rejuvenated effort to offer nutrition education across Lincoln County.
We expect to be fully up-and-running by late 2026 or early 2027, and we are so excited to connect with you. For updates, follow us on Facebook and Instagram @healthylincolncounty and sign up for our monthly newsletter here.
